Anamaria Nicola is associate professor at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences (University of Bucharest), where she teaches TV, writing techniques and introductory mass-media courses. She worked as a special reporter for Gazeta Sporturilor and a live correspondent for Realitatea TV, where she covered major sport events (including the 2006 FIFA World Cup). She was a news editor and producer for three major Romanian TV stations (Realitatea TV, Prima TV and TVR). She is editor of the Romanian version of the European Journalism Observatory.
In 2012 she published a manual on ”Live reporting” (in Romanian, at Polirom), and in 2014 she contributed with a chapter on women integration in sports media for a book called ”Gender, Mass Media, Representations – Social realities and media representations” (in English, at the University Publishing House). In 2018, she will publish a book called ”Emotions in the media – the news of terror”, based on the research she did for her PHD.
She will present the first results of the 2018 Reuters Institute Digital News Report, with a focus on the worldwide data and a comparison between Eastern and Central European countries.
